Does compressing an image reduce its quality?
At the default 80% setting, the quality reduction is virtually invisible. You can pick a different quality level (60–100%) to find the ideal balance between file size and visual fidelity.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All compression happens locally in your browser using its built-in Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
What image formats can I compress?
Our compressor supports JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats. It will maintain the original format of your image after compression.
Is there a file size limit?
Because the compression happens in your browser, the maximum size depends on your device's RAM. Usually, files up to 15MB work perfectly.
Does this tool resize the image dimensions?
By default, no. However, you can use the 'Max Dimension' setting to scale down extremely large images (like 4K photos) for even better compression.
